Petition to Reinstate the Golf Cart Gate Lock at Point Comfort Community Park
Some residents of Point Comfort Plantation are concerned about the recent decision to remove the lock from the golf cart gate at our neighborhood park. This decision has led to unauthorized access by individuals from surrounding neighborhoods, compromising the safety and privacy of our community.
Reasons for Reinstating the Lock:
1. Privacy and Security: The lock provides a necessary measure to ensure only residents have access to our park, safeguarding our private property.
2. Community Consensus: A neighborhood-wide discussion and formal voting process are crucial for decisions that affect the community's privacy and safety.
***************
In the recent past since the lock was removed, there have been multiple incidents where unauthorized people, groups and golf carts from other neighborhoods have been seen on our private property.
In one instance, the family had come on a golf cart with coolers, children, fishing poles. They were sprawled out on our pavilion in the rocking chairs, kids fishing off the bulkhead, golf cart parked inside the gate. The family lives in Cedar Woods.
Another incident was where a car with TN plates parked by the Lynes house, entered the park with fishing poles and life jackets. They did not leave when a resident asked them to.
There have been many, many more instances of people who should not be on our property on our property, more trash at the park and the gates wide open. The simple solution is what we have had in place for many years: SECURE THE GATE. We all value the pavilion and park - as we should - and we should keep it private for Pt Comfort residents only.
Obviously this interferes with members' quiet enjoyment of our OWN property. It should not be up to residents to confront unauthorized people in our park, putting themselves at risk of who knows what.
Please sign the attached petition if you agree the neighborhood needs the lock back on the gate. We can certainly put a different type of lock on that is easy to use and visible without readers.
