Plastic is now a serious worldwide environmental and health concern, essentially due to its non-biodegradable nature. Addis Ababa is also one of the place where plastics are widely unmanaged and you will see plastic bags all over the places including at the city center. Cleaning and collecting is one may of reducing the damage, but as many countries, including the neighboring countries, plastic bags are completely banned from manufacturing and import. The ultimate goal of this initiativeis to ban plastic with strict penalty for for those that are not following the ban. Meanwhile, enforcing some measure that can reduce the usage can be implemented at the City level while working to legalizing the National level ban. its getting so bad in addis u cant even walk down the street without seeing trash everywhere. look at rwanda they did it so why cant we? we need to stop this now.
