Please dont Occupy Exeters Cathedral Green
"A bishop whose provincial cathedral has been targeted
by “copycat” anti-capitalist protesters has pointed out that they
are wasting their time since the church is nowhere near any financial
institutions."
We suggest these people (Occupy) re-locate to
Southernhay. They will be closer to the Banks and the Vodaphone shop
that they are protesting
about, they will STILL be in the City Centre, which is what they want,
and they will also be next to the Council offices. Their speaker, Ghee
Bowman also has an office there, which means they will have somewhere to
go for toilet breaks and personal hygiene, which is not available on
the Cathedral green.
This has been suggested on the Occupy
Exeter page, but they chose to delete and then not respond. We have put
this to several people who have posted very abusively on this page, but
are then told their problem is with the Church and that is why they are
there. Another person then said they do not have a problem with the
church.. it seems they do not have a response for why they are camping
on the Cathedral green and not near the banks which is what they say
they are protesting about...
The Dean has stated he would
rather they were not there and has not given them permission. They are
an eyesore on Cathedral Green for residents of Exeter and vistors, a lot
of people will be coming to the cathedral area around Christmas and do
not want views of the beautiful cathedral defaced by these ugly tents
and dirty looking campers who have no sanitation or running water for
personal hygeine.
If they were to move to Southernhay, there should not be any problem.
