Prevent more deaths on Deepdene Avenue
On Tuesday 13 December 2011, a member of Kuoni's cleaning staff sadly passed away after a fatal collision on Deepdene Avenue.
Kuoni staff - and the general public - risk their lives every day on this stretch of road. To turn right out of Kuoni's drive in a car, you have to cross two lanes of traffic travelling at 50mph each way. The gap between each car is just a few seconds and the sound of horns blasting as angry drivers slam on their brakes to let us out is a regular occurrence.
Pedestrians are at risk, too. This week, we saw the proof of this. The public and Kuoni staff cross Deepdene Avenue at the bollard but this area is unlit and those trying to cross cannot be seen by drivers travelling so fast.
You can often see memorial flowers laying by the edge of the road and the council NEED TO TAKE ACTION to prevent any more loss of life. A roundabout, a crossing, lights... whatever is most effective and safe for both our staff and the public driving on Deepdene Avenue in Dorking.
Please sign this petition and pass it on so we can make a difference.
