Medical malpractice has been on the rise lately, and it is now prevalent to see cases of surgeons leaving various medical instruments in a patient due to the absence of rules and regulations or the failure to comply with the existing ones. If the "No Thing Left Behind" policy created to help prevent medical tools from being left inside patients as well as the counting policy recommended by the Association of Operating Room Nurses were to be combined, then the number of cases dealing with medical instruments left in a patient will rapidly decline in the upcoming years. These two policies will be in all hospitals in the United States. They would be implemented at a federal level.
