Our new neighbors, Tom Stuart Construction (and Premier Medical, who will lease their building), have built a warehouse at an elevation drastically different from the empty field we’ve all known for years. While this was done to ensure trucks would load/unload on the west, away from our fence line, the result is a virtual total loss of privacy for Castlewood homeowners on the west side of the community. Tom Stuart Construction intends to plant certain trees at some density along the property line to contribute to additional privacy. Plans call for two types of trees:

1. Pinus Flexilis (Vanderwolf’s Pyramid Pine) – which will grow to maturity in >10 years and be ~20’ high and ~10-15’ wide, and

2. Acer Ginnala (Flame Amur Maple) – which will grow to maturity in about the same time and be ~20’ high and ~20’ wide

Long term, Tom Stuart Construction’s plans for trees (assuming they all survive) will create privacy for Castlewood. 10 years is a long time to wait, however. In the short-term, many of us have children playing in these exposed backyards. We host summer BBQs and hang out in hot tubs. The unfortunate truth is simply the elevation of Tom Stuart Construction’s project eliminates the efficacy of our 6’ vinyl fence. The time to protect the privacy of our west-side homes is now.

In early 2022 Tom Stuart Construction committed to scoping out solutions that would protect our privacy now, such as a shorter wall abutting their parking lot or an extension to the existing vinyl fence. There is no indication that a solution is imminent. This petition is meant to simply portray our community as united in its willingness to fight for the privacy of those impacted by Tom Stuart Construction’s project.
