Protesting against school uniform
Who thinks that school uniform (worldwide) should be abolished? Or be optional?
Imagine having to wear school uniforms everyday. The same dress code every week., the same color pants and shirts every week. Uniforms especially those that have color and style requirements for every part of the outfit are not easy for many parents to afford. Students should be able to have a choice to wear whatever they want.Students should not have to wear uniforms;they should be able to express their style, school uniforms should be banned, children's freedom of expression is restricted by school uniforms. Students should be able to express their style. “Parents, kids and even ALCU have noted that growing children need to learn to express themselves.” We cannot be able to express ourselves by wearing basic uniform.(Rauscher)“Some may assume that school uniforms lessen a family clothing expense.’’ (Rauscher)Most uniforms is expensive especially the kind I like to wear, the cheap ones are itchy. “Wearing uniform takes away your freedom of expression.” (“Do School Uniforms Violate a Student’s Right to Freedom of Expression?”) Uniforms are too plain and ordinary. School uniforms should be banned. “Almost 20% of public schools in America now require students to wear uniforms to school.” (Rauscher) Most schools don’t require students to wear uniform but now the district has changed the policy. “I see the world became so uniform. Everybody has to be the same, I like people who are different.” (“Eric Cantona Quotes at BrainyQuote.com”) I can’t express my style by wearing uniform because it’s too basic.”School uniforms demand strict obedience in an environment with mandatory conformity.” (Rauscher) My school policy is strict as well we can't even wear scarfs. Students freedom of expression is restricted by school uniforms. ‘’ Students who have to wear the same clothing as every other student in their school are not able to express their individuality and creativity.” (“Does Imposing School Uniforms Prevent Students from Creatively Expressing Themselves?”) .We should get rid of school uniforms so that all children can express themselves freely. “Most students who are required to wear uniforms consistently express strong distaste for them” (KatherineF) . I am one of those students that express strong distaste for them because I like to express my style. “Allowing students to wear what makes them feel comfortable will prevent them from feeling embarrassed and enable them to place confidence in their unique personal identity (KatherineF).” A lot of students get bullied because of what they wear. Some students may disagree with me because they think we should have to wear uniform. Other students might believe that students should have to wear uniform. I believe we shouldn’t because we should be able to express the way we are. “We should wear uniforms because it’s easy for us to pick out clothes.” in students voice. I think we have more choices with our regular clothes. “We should wear uniforms because they go with everything.” Well if we don’t have to wear uniforms you can still wear uniforms if u want to. As you can see, is that I believe uniforms should be banned. In conclusion, most people believe that we should wear uniform. Students should be able to freely express themselves. As a student it is hard to express yourself with all the enforced rules.I think uniforms should be banned from the entire usa. Students should not be recommended or required to wear uniforms, we have freedom, we shouldn’t have school rules. If we let uniforms continue, students will not be happy and be able to enjoy their free time as much as they want to. Taking that away and replacing it with a mandatory uniform will disable them from being able to choose for themselves in the future.

Many students don’t like school uniforms, their ugly, uncomfortable, and expensive. Letting students wear what they want is the best option for schools because it allows students to express themselves how they want and it limits the money that parents have to spend for school. Private schools and schools that require uniforms are already expensive enough, so why make parents pay more for a uniform most students don’t even wear. The schools should realize that the uniforms don’t help the learning of the students and it cuts back in the people in the schools.
The main reason I think schools shouldn’t have uniforms is because their expensive. Schools already take half your money for your child to learn there but they take more just for your children to wear a certain things. Schools should allow students to wear what they want because the prices for the uniforms is expensive and parents don’t need to spend more money on their children just for them to go to school. With uniforms being expensive, some students might not be able to go to that school because they have to spend so much extra money on things and then on top of that they have to spend more on the uniforms so if they took away the uniforms it would cut down the cost of schooling and more people might join the school.
Another main reason I think students shouldn’t have to wear uniforms because students should be able to express themselves through what they wear and not be forced to wear the same thing every other student wears. High school students and individuals who want to be different from everyone else and one way they can do that is by what they wear. When schools make students wear the same things everyone else does, they can’t be themselves and they can’t express themselves in that way. Schools say that the way students express themselves may not be appropriate for school and may distract other students and may keep students from learning, but lets be honest if someone wears something that is a little revealing I don't think that it will keep students from learning.
And lastly, uniforms are uncomfortable. Polos and skirts and everything else schools require are uncomfortable and with students having to be at school for 7+ hours they should be in something that is comfy and they can move around in, and not in something that is uncomfortable and something that restricts their movement. If teachers except the best work from students, it would be in something they are comfortable in and not something that isn’t because if someone is uncomfortable then that's all they will be thinking about and they won’t be able to get anything done, but if the students are in something that they like then they can focus more on learning instead of what their wearing.
Some adults, like parents and school faculty, may say that if students don’t wear a uniform they will wear something not appropriate for school and they may take it to an extreme. Faculty members say that students learn better when they don’t have distractions and that distraction could be what some students wear, mainly guys looking at girls, but wearing a uniform doesn’t help them with learning and what people wear doesn’t distract them if they don’t wear a uniform so either way they are still learning.
For many reasons like the ones above, schools shouldn’t enforce students to wear uniforms because it doesn’t help or hurt their education. So i think we should let students wear what they want because let's be honest uniforms are really ugly.
Let's have a vote.
