Early Retirement for Paramedics - A Public Safety Issue
To Hon. Mr. Gerretsen (Minister of Municipal Affairs): Paramedics have successfully lobbied the Federal government to obtain Public Safety Occupation designation, which Bill 206 recognizes, yet the Province of Ontario has decided that they are not to be given the same recognition as their Emergency Service counterparts in the Fire and Police sectors. THIS PLACES THE PUBLIC IN REAL DANGER!. Asking paramedics to continue performing physically, emotionally, and mentally demanding work at a stage in their career where other emergency service workers can safely exit their professions PLACES THE PUBLIC AT RISK! Although the news reports every day that Paramedics are included in the Bill as receiving early retirement and supplemental benefits, THIS IS NOT THE CASE, and we the undersigned WANT BILL 206 AMENDED OR STOPPED!
