For The Reopening of Pyenot Hall Lane
An E-Petition written on behalf of Spenborough Chamber of Trade and businesses and residents of Cleckheaton, calling for the immediate and permanent opening of Pyenot Hall Lane, Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire to all vehicles (i.e. the removal of the bollards), so traffic can move freely between Pyenot Hall Lane and the Bradford Road. We understand that this will have little effect until the gas works are completed but the closure was in pilot stage for 18 months. The council is looking for opinion on the subject to decide if the trial should become permanent. We have been promised a change to the junction for the last 5 years and so far nothing has changed. At a residents meeting it was proposed to have speed humps but then the road was closed completely causing massive queues in the town centre and on the bradford road. We will use the number of signatures from this petition to support us in taking further action to the council for a full debate. Reasons to open Pyenot Hall Lane immediately to all vehicles include:- Westgate is now becomming a huge problem for both commuters and residents and is having a knock on effect on local business, bus services and the community. People who work or drop children off at school in Cleckheaton or or travel through Cleckheaton will have journey times, fuel costs and CO2 emissions significantly reduced. Improved access to the Doctors surgery and pharmacy situated on Town Centre, especially for those coming from Heckmondwike, Batley and Dewsbury. Congestion around Westgate and Parkside would be significantly reduced. If you agree or are affected by this please sign the petition below to help us.
