Qwasie Reid is a true hero who saved the life of a choking 7-year girl while she attended school at PS 250.
Brooklyn first-grader Noelia Echavarria is on life support at NYU Langone Medical Center, thanks to Qwasie's actions. He was sitting outside in his ambulance near the school when he was urgently asked by school staff to help the girl. If he had refused, she would have died on the floor of her school.
His employer, Assist Ambulance, is upset that Qwasie intervened and has indefinitely suspended this hero.
We call on Assist Ambulance to reverse this callous decision and reinstate Qwasie's job. They owe Qwasie and the surrounding community a huge apology for putting the technicalities of their corporate policies over the value of human life.

My Friend Save This Child Life One Day My Mother Did The Same And She Wasnt Suspend They Gave Her An Award . He Should Get Another Chance . Not Only cause He Is A Friend Of Mines But Because That Couldve Been My Mother
He was taught to save lives for a living and now he has been suspended for doing just that? You should be ashamed of yourselves for reprimanding a man for saving the life of a little girl. No reason, no excuse, no protocol is more important than saving a life.
if someone I loved and cherished, was having a medical emergency this is the man I would like to have help us. He needs to keep doing what he's doing, and get paid for. Takes a lot of courage to do what is right regardless of the consequences. MA
I'm a Healthcare professional and I cannot on earth understand WHY he was suspended +without pay. The nerve of whoever is in charge to call this company PROFESSIONAL AND COMPASSIONATE
What would the company have done of the little girl was lying in the rode instead of inside the school? Would the company have supported him if he hadn't went to aid her and was subsequently named in a wrongfully death lawsuit?
He was suspended not because he stopped to rescue the girl, but, rather, because instead of returning to his amubulance after turning over the care for the girl to the Fire Dept. ambulance EMTs whom responded 4 minutes after he did, he rode in the Fire Dept. ambulance to the hospital with the girl and abandoned the patient whom he was transporting and his partner EMT. Instead, he used his suspension as a publicity stunt rather than as a learning lesson. In doing so, he slandered Assist Ambulance, Inc. publicly, and if he took the money from GoFundMe he should have to repay it. He took an act of valor and turned it into a disgrace!
He is not just an "Ambulance Driver." Above and beyond. Someone should snatch him up and give him a decent place to work so he never has to face this again. The job is bad enough. Thank you Qwasie for your amazing work. I'm sorry you had to face losing that child alone. I would have done the same though without question. You made a reasonable decision.
