Coach John Bassier has been a coach at Ferndale HS for 48 years, as well as a teacher for 40+, guiding and mentoring young men. We are petitioning to have the football stadium renamed in his honor and all we need is over 100 signatures but more never hurts.
Please if you see Coach Bassier do not tell him about this plan, we would love to keep it as a surprise.

Great man, first met him in summer football practices when I was a junior coming over from St James. Eventually had him a a teacher which he was awesome very good at keeping everyones interest. He later coached our son in football and wrestling. He also taught our son and a daughter in biology. Coach has dedicated himself to Ferndale we owe it to him!
Well deserved honor. As our football coach, trips to Isle Royale, and Advanced Biology, he brought his best and showed us how much fun lifelong learning can be.
Perfect honor for a great man. A thought... The Ferndale football stadium is currently called Hanson Field. In order not to slight the Hanson family, maybe the new name could be "Hanson Stadium - the home of Bassier Field."
I was honored to have Mr Bassier as a teacher in in my freshman year at Ferndale High . It was 1969.I have found him to be one of the most respectable teachers I have known. I believe that this is a great way to honor his service.
Coach Bassier has been a mentor and big influence of mine since middle school, not just through football but through wrestling. And when I decided to focus all my attention on football and academics, he was still there to push me. Morally, professionally, and as a former athlete, a lot of his values he instilled are with me to this day 15 years later.
There is not a more kind humble and deserving person!

John Bassier was my football coach in 1976 and 1977, and my biology teacher in 1978. To this day I carry with my fond memories of Mr. Bassier and the life lessons that he instilled in me. I believe he is absolutely deserving of having the Football Field named after him.
