We, the students, staff, faculty, and other members of the University of Notre Dame community, respectfully request disputes in favor of preventing medical coverage for women's contraceptives be dropped. Collectively, we agree that we are entitled to full medical coverage for contraceptive services. Furthermore, while Notre Dame is founded upon religious values, we feel the decision to use contraceptives should be at the discretion of the individual's wishes and not by the medical conditions a person may or may not have. Finally, we ask that our personal opinions and preferences be appropriately and professionally considered when handling decisions regarding the healthcare plans we are directly investing in.
As a Notre Dame student, I was shocked to find out that the university insists on interfering with matters that should remain a personal decision between women and their doctors. We can do better.
