Calling upon San Francisco Mayor, London Breed, to further address the issue of homelessness in the city, an issue that affects 7,754 individuals as of 2022.

SF dedicated $672 million of its $14 billion 2022-23 annual budget to its Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing, little of which is going towards helping the population of unhoused to find permanent housing. I urge the mayor to look into providing reoccuring mental health and addiction care for these individuals, especially those who became homeless after being discharged from psychiatric emergency services. Supplying those discharged with connections to city-provided mental health/addiction care would better prepare them to readjust and have longer-lasting care and resources. This would help build trust between the community and the city, reducing the alienation they may feel and become more comfortable in utilizing city-provided temporary/permanent housing and other resources.

I call upon Mayor London Breed to reallocate budgeting towards these issues in hopes of reducing homelessness in San Francisco.
