The city has officially confirmed that Hubbell Avenue will return to its previous four-lane configuration. This outcome is a direct result of the persistent engagement from everyone who stood behind this effort. We should remain attentive as the transition unfolds to ensure the restoration is completed as promised.
This petition is for everyone opposed to the lane changes that have taken place on Hubbell Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa. 4-lane traffic has been reduced to 2-lane with added bike lanes. We understand that this is a one-year trial program, proposed by the DOT, and that city council gave the final approval to allow it. Certain council members like to make it clear that they opposed it from the start and have tried to sooth the public by saying that it will "probably" be changed back. In the meantime, we have to live with it through the winter months - maybe permanently! We are not going to wait until June of 2014 to address this issue. We want to make sure that the voice of public opinion is heard this time! Now is the time to start the process and, with our collective voices, let them know that we don't want these changes to become permanent! Make a difference. Sign the petition and spread the word to others about it. HUBBELL AVENUE - CHANGE IT BACK TO 4-LANE!

RIDICULOUS idea from the start. Nobody uses those bike lanes in the middle of an Iowa winter anyhow. Change it back!

Traffic is a disaster now. Getting to work takes twice as long. Need those lanes back ASAP.
