Regulate Nighttime Noise at Port of Corner Brook
We, the citizens of Corner Brook, petition the City Council of Corner Brook to prohibit the work of heavy machinery at the Port of Corner Brook after the hours of 10pm and before the hours of 7am.
We, the signed below, believe the following of the excessive noise emissions created at the Port of Corner Brook:
- That the consistent sleep disruption is a significant health issue, beyond what is reasonable to withstand.
- That
the negative affect on property values/sales is beyond natural value
fluctuations, and of serious consequence to the financial well-being of
property owners, through no fault of their own.
- That the current allowance of noise emissions is inconsistent with the spirit of the Noise Regulations By-laws of the City of Corner Brook, a document created to protect the residents right to "quiet, peace, rest, enjoyment, comfort, or convenience" with regards to noise emissions.
We see our concerns and solutions to them as feasible, achievable and reasonable. Other municipalities have by-laws that regulate commercial and heavy machinery work and what hours they can operate, such as Mount Pearl/Conception Bay and Paradise. Its time to follow their lead. Together we can resolve this issue.
By signing this petition we propose that the City Council of Corner Brook review our complaints and regulate the noise emissions at the Port of Corner Brook.
