Gordon Ferguson, the head of the Sculpture Program at the Alberta College of Art and Design was wrongfully dismissed from his job because of an incident involving a student who used a chicken in an art demonstration. We believe it is wrong to terminate an instructor and renowned artist who taught at the college for more than 30 years because of the independent actions of a student.
A thousand signatures just popped up on the screen and I honestly had to look away and then look back because my brain could not compute that many people caring about Gordon. It is just a chicken incident for crying out loud but apparently everyone realizes how absurd this dismissal really is when you actually think about his decades of teaching.

The momentum shifting around Gordon is honestly moving faster than I ever thought possible and it feels like people are finally seeing through the nonsense of the administration. It is wild to think back to when this all started right after that chicken incident because now we are actually forcing a conversation that they tried to bury. I keep checking my phone and seeing new faces join in and it honestly makes me think we might actually pull this off.

Admin needs to get a grip. Punishing the teacher for a student project is pathetic leadership. Bring him back immediately.

30 years of service thrown away over a chicken? This is absolutely insane. Give him his job back.

ACAD is losing their best faculty member. Gordon is a legend and he shouldnt be blamed for what a student does in class.

Gordon taught me so much. Such a huge loss for the program. Keep him on.
