Unlike other cricket playing territories, the W.I. is made up of many sovereign countries. National pride chumps regional pride. Unlike the regional ODI and 4-Day competitions where "National" teams do battle, the teams of the CPL (note it is not even called the WIPL) are essentially club teams. Country names should be removed from these teams. In doing so "Bajans" wouldn't be offended by a "Trini" leading a "Bajan" side; "Trinis" wouldn't be livid with Guyanese claims that "Guyana" beat "TnT" when there are Trinis on the "Guyanese" side (note no Guyanese played on the "TnT" side) and the list can go on. I proposed that the teams be named the North Caribbean Tallawahs and Hawksbills, the Central Caribbean Zouks and Tridents and the South Caribbean Red Steel and Amazon Warriors.
