Renew Professor Margaux Kristjansson's Contract
To the Bard College Administration,
We, the undersigned students and supporters of Professor Margaux Kristjansson, respectfully request the renewal of her contract with Bard College. Margaux has been an invaluable asset to our academic community, and we believe her continued presence is essential for the enrichment of our educational experience, specifically within the American and (newly developing) Indigenous Studies program.
As an educator, Professor Kristjansson is empowering the next generation of scholars by facilitating a respectful and collaborative environment where she invites her students to think critically within and across varied disciplines and areas of thought - carefully weaving texts that examine Indigenous governance and feminism, queer Indigenous theory, colonial resistance and settler studies. She is deeply involved in the wider Indigenous Studies community, bringing Bard into a larger conversation that extends outside of Annandale-on-Hudson.
Beyond the classroom, Professor Kristjansson is an advocate and mentor for students navigating the American and Indigenous Studies program, queer and trans students, Indigenous students, Bard Baccalaureate students, and emerging organizers. Therefore, Bardʻs failure to renew her contract would negatively impact students needing the most support. Her position in our community is invaluable and irreplaceable, and we request that Bard honors that fact by renewing her contract.
Thank you for your consideration,
Students, staff and faculty of Bard College
