There is now an amendment to the city code before the Common Council that would repeal the prohibition on dogs in riverfront park, but the amendment is meeting with opposition. Several aldermen attest to getting many calls from constituents expressing the opinion that making it legal to have a dog in the park will turn the park into a de facto dog park, where dogs will run free and uncontrolled, posing a danger to children and other park visitors.
This petition is an opportunity for people who do NOT see repealing the prohibition as opening the door to canine tyranny and chaos on the riverfront to communicate their thoughts to the Common Council before the proposed repeal comes to a vote on Tuesday, March 18. When you sign it, if you are a Hudson resident, please indicate the ward in which you reside.

The Common Council aldermen can no longer pretend that their fear-mongering about dogs reflects the will of this city. This surge of support proves that residents are tired of these baseless restrictions and we are ready to take our park back from the obstructionists.

Dogs on leashes, idied up after are a wonderful addition to our lives and community. I am in Ward 3, Henry Haddad is my Alderman and I ask him to please re-consider and make Hudson more welcoming to folks who wish to visit our city with their canine companions. Dogs allowed will enhance our City. Please repeal the the prohibition on puppies. Thank you!
I believe the park can be shared by all and should not be limited by not allowing dogs. As long as dog owners tend to their pets responsibly and IAW local leash laws and clean up after their pets. I suggest having a "clean up bag dispenser" like up on Warren St.
My Sox and I so enjoy the waterfront. We go to the boat launch so much, i think he believes it belongs to him. I, of course, always have him on his leash, there or where ever we walk him. 5th ward
Recently purchased a home on Allen Street and hope to move up soon. I have a minilonghaired dachshund named Flo and would love to walk her in the park.
I don't own a dog, but I wholeheartedly support allowing dogs in all of our parks. I see no problem making areas (like grassy sections) no dog zones, but by and large, dogs should be allowed.
It's a silly law.

It is ridiculous to prohibit the taxpaying citizens of Hudson to exercise the freedom of walking their dogs in an open space provided they are on leashes and owners clean up after them. What's next? Banning dogs from the City entirely? It's absurd.
