NYC Charter School Center - Restore Public Charter School Funding!
New York's 2009-10 state budget slashed more than $50 million in public charter school funding. That’s a cut of roughly $1,000 per student, and will harm schools by threatening jobs and impacting employee pay and benefits. This cut in funding is taking place despite the governor and state lawmakers approving a $1.2 billion increase in education aid. That’s unfair. Join us in urging Governor Paterson, Assembly Speaker Silver and Majority Leader Smith to restore funds to public charter schools before the legislative session ends in June. We need to keep the pressure on! Let's make sure leaders in Albany hear from teachers in public charter schools who are on the front lines serving children.
