Restricting St Ann's festival and outdoor events
Petition to include neighbors input for future outdoor St Ann’s events and impose a new location and or restrictions on St Ann’s fair. The neighborhood surrounding St Ann’s church and school raise these concerns in an effort to work together with the village and the church to create a more harmonious neighborhood.
St Ann’s parish has grown exponentially Unfortunately this has resulted in a negative impact on the neighborhood and the quality of life for our community. Our neighborhood is over burdened with hundreds of hours a year of outdoor amplified events a which bring unreasonable levels of noise, light pollution, garbage, traffic and road rage to our area. Our efforts to mediate have been ignored. To add insult to injury the more we reach out the worse it gets. We endure more and more hours of unregulated events each year.
The conversation regarding resident input regarding St Ann’s is past due. We are asking for restrictions and limitations placed on St Ann’s outdoor events which include but are not limited to The St Ann’s Fair, Soccer tournaments, BBQs, parades, birthday parties, outdoor masses and any other loud large scale outdoor event
St Ann’s has shown a complete disregard for our neighbors and our right to the quiet enjoyment of our neighborhood. They are pushing the boundaries far beyond any non profit or religious institution in our town. There are several areas of complaints we would like to address.
- Residential input. Despite our best efforts in outreach to the BOT and parish there has been zero residential input and very little concern of the neighbors who's taxes and rents pay for the villages expenses required for these events.
- Restrictions on time and location on St Ann’s fair. St Ann’s fair should be moved to a non residential location that can handle large crowds and late night events. Our neighborhood can no longer endure thousands of people for an entire week each night.
- Noise and amplified sound. Just the St Ann’s Fair alone is 30 hours of noise and light pollution in one week not including set up and take down. We’re enduring amplified soccer tournaments and events almost every weekend from late spring to late fall.
- Addressing traffic issues and safety including road rage from visitors to the area, vehicles unable to get down our street, blocking our driveways and driving on our lawns.
- Garbage. Plastic water bottles, food wrappers, food waste, Styrofoam containers, plastic food utensils and other miscellaneous garbage are all over our street after every event.
We hope we can work together to find sensible solutions to our concerns.
