Dear Mr. Vargas,
We are applying for permits from 5pm to 6pm on Wednesdays and Fridays for the use of DiMattina Field in Carroll Gardens Brooklyn. This would be for SFX baseball league practice before our other neighborhood teams use the field (2016 permit # 253809). We thank you for your consideration!
I am attaching the following petition from team parents in regards to the use of DiMattina field this upcoming spring. We have a small team called the Brooklyn Bulldogs who have been practising at the old Stone House in park slope. Our team plays with the SFX league in the Spring. Our children are no longer small enough to practice in the corner of a park or public space and need a more exclusive and private area for practicing. They are old enough now where they are hitting and throwing the ball at a dangerous speed for bystanders. We are requesting to be considered to use this park at these times for the sake of safety and to serve the public more conveniently.
Dimattina would be a great place for us to practice because it is a dedicated baseball field. We would be able to use a real baseball diamond and play on real turf. Most of our games are on real turf and our kids have no chance to practice the goofy bounces that come from real grass. In addition, the older players are now playing on the diamonds in Prospect Park where there is real gravel and sliding is permitted, this does not work without real dirt to practice on.
Please consider this request and note that the signatures attached represent only a small percent of those who would benefit from access to the little green gem that is DiMattina field. Thank you for your consideration.
