THE SAGAR HOUSE DEVELOPMENT
This planned building of 82 houses on the Sagar House site is far too many and will affect our village in a number of ways: 1 Ecclestons drainage system is very old and at capacity now. If such large developments are allowed to go ahead it will put the current drainage system under great strain and will eventually lead to flooding. Some residents in the Sagar House vicinity were already experiencing sewage up flow into their back gardens after heavy rain when Sagar House was in use. If they build these proposed 82 houses it will make these issues far worse as the developer does not have to take responsibility for the drainage outside of the build area. In other words they will build adequate 900mm drainage pipes on site that will lead into the much smaller existing pipes that range in size from 225mm to 150mm. Clearly this will cause problems in the future. 2 These properties will probably have 2-3 cars per house (some may have more as there are 5 bed houses planned). This means a possible 200 or more cars on our already busy roads. 3 The amount of buildings and the subsequent addition of a possible 350 plus new residents will have a huge impact on our local amenities such as, the nearest primary school – St Mary’s is always at capacity and our doctor’s surgery is always very busy. 4 A number of the buildings proposed are going to be 3 stories high. This is not in keeping with the rest of the village and most surrounding properties are bungalows! If we don’t try to stop them from building such tall housing now we may never be able to stop them again, as they will have set a precedent! We have been told that to have any chance of stopping this we need people in numbers. I.e. sign this petition, then if you can, come to the relevant meetings. The first will be at St Mary's primary at 8.30 wed 11th. The second will be at Chorley Town Hall - date to be confirmed.
