Over the past few years society has become accustomed to the fact the gays and lesbians in serious relationships desire to become legally married. From a biblical perspective the Lord has defined marriage as being the union between a man and a women. Gay and lesbian activities described in the Old Testament are considered an abomination against God and sinful. As a Christian community in service to Christ we do not aspire to deny gays and lesbians their human rights but are very concerned about how this same sex marriage legislation would erode the \"family\" as God designed. To redefine marriage so as to include gay and lesbian unions is to destroy the meaning of marriage which has been held as a foundational cornerstone to our Canadian society.Broadening the definition to include other forms of union actually destroys the meaning of marriage for those who already view it as a holy union. The very act of redefinition alienates the Christian community because \"marriage\" no longer then means the holy union of one man and one woman to the exclusion of all others. Redefinition is not an insignificant act. It is robbing a people of one of the most significant and foundational principles by which they live their lives and build community. When we say marriage and live marriage--we mean one man and one woman. We ask our member of Parliament to vote against same sex marriage legislation.

Marriage has been between a man and a woman since the beginning of time. We should not be changing the definition just because of current trends. Leave it alone.

God intended marriage for a man and a woman. This is just wrong.
