We the undersigned would like Metro Link and Trafford Council to take into consideration the possible name change to the new proposed Metro Station called " Wharfside" which will be situated on the site of the old Samuel Platts Public House in Trafford Wharf Road, Manchester.

We ask Metro link to consider the possibility of renaming the station "Sammy Platts", rather than "Wharfside, over the years this public house was home to many thousands of fans who regularly frequented the pub and most feel it was like their local on match days and sadly have now lost that.

Also in keeping with those same fans who will be travelling on the new line and the surrounding area of Old Trafford, we are asking for this matter to be at least given some thought and hopefully help us maintain our history and fond memories of an institution that gave us so much pleasure.

Yours sincerely

I think this would be a very fitting name. Most people will call it the 'Sam Platt's' stop anyway. Plus Platt was a prominent local figure.

As a venue that was experienced by 3 generations of my family over the years I feel this would be much more a reflection of the areas history than "Whalfside" which is just a description

I loved going in here on match days with my daughters and think it's only appropriate to name the stop after Sam Platts pub..will dearly miss going in here with all the singing and great atmosphere outside to pump everyone up before the match.

Sammy Platts is a place where friendships were born. And ask any United support where they felt at home and they would tell you Sammy Platt. So let's keep this legendary place alive. Name the tram stop Sammy Plattso.

I built and named Samuel Platt’s in 1989 after researching the history of the Ship Canal. I have in my possession the log book of his yacht The Norseman which was left to me by his Daughter who passed away in 1990.

Hi I'm from india and I come to Manchester every year to watch football at Old trafford and it almost a ritual to have few few pints at Sam Platts before heading to the game. For me it's a part of the whole experience of Manchester United. And I hereby extend my support to name the new tram station after Sam platts.
