Sand Volleyball courts for SDA students
San Dieguito Academy High School girls Sand Volleyball Team does not have their own sand courts to practice or play their home matches on. SDA's sand volleyball courts were removed to make way for the building of the Performing Arts Center and were never replaced as promised.
The NCAA has now added Sand Volleyball as one of its sports (with a former SDA sand volleyball player accepting an offer to play on Cal's sand team in the Pac 12). We also expect that the CIF will be sanctioning Sand Volleyball soon.
We support the sand volleyball program at SDA and the construction of three sand volleyball courts to allow this program to thrive.
We understand that there may be a timeline issue with this construction, so we encourage you to vocally support adding these courts to the SDA Master Plan as well as support the addition of sand volleyball courts to construction that can be completed sooner and give our students the opportunities other schools in the district have.
Two other possible options are SDUHSD's new La Costa Valley Fields property on Calle Barcelona, and the new Encinitas Community Park on Santa Fe Drive (perhaps with a partnership between SDUHSD/SDA and the City of Encinitas).
Similar requests for courts have been unanswered over the last two+ years. Please, help us get these courts, now, so that our sons and daughters will be on a level competing field with the other schools in our district and league.
We need to let SDA's administration and the school district know that we as parents, a community and supporters of the sport, need to find a solution soon before the opportunity passes our students by.
Please support us by signing this petition and letting SDA and the District know that we URGE them to find a location to build three courts for SDA's Mustangs Sand Volleyball team within the next year!
