Save Dr. Florence Kimondo
Dear Dr. Epley- As a student body it has come to our attention that Florence Kimondo will not have her contract renewed. We are writing to you to express our shock, dismay, and anger. We simply do not understand why Erikson would let go of one of the most gifted and cherished professors that we have. The emotional response of the students is not to be overlooked. Dr. Kimondo was instrumental in founding the MSW program and in our mind is irreplaceable.
Her ability to lead seminar is unmatched. The depth of Florence's compassion for her students, combined with her insight and ability to challenge our thinking and see all perspectives, has impacted all of us and made us better at our craft. She embodies what Erikson claims to stand for and losing her will have a huge impact on the quality of our program. We know that Florence is always open to feedback and personal growth. She has breadth of knowledge that supports our learning. To top it off, she is simply one of the best human beings on the planet and she gave us hope when we felt discouraged in the face of today's political climate.
We ask that this decision be reconsidered. We do not want this. We are heartbroken and angry and confused. Bottom line, we think this is wrong and directly hurts our educational experience. Professors like Florence are why we chose Erikson. The loss of Florence as a professor and mentor will weaken the program, and the impact will echo for years as you try to rebuild trust with the current student body.
In addition, we would also like to address Ashley Curry and Whitney Mittons. It is our understanding that they are instrumental in supporting our experience as students at Erikson. We ask that you fight this for us. Florence is a huge part of our experience and we, the undersigned, will all be directly impacted by her loss. Again, we ask that Florence Kimondo's contract be renewed.
