This petition is to designate the Happy Foot Sad Foot sign in LA as a Historic Landmark and/or force and Environmental Impact Report before the sign can be moved. This is a preliminary petition to recognize the Historic / Cultural impact that the sign known as Hafo Safo has had on the development of Silver Lake and Los Angeles over the decades. There are plans to move the Happy Foot Sad Foot sign from Silver Lake. Moving the Happy Foot Sad Foot sign from Silver Lake (and not having it spin), would be like moving the Hollywood sign to the Valley and painting it pink.

The risk involved with the dismantling and relocating of this important sign and the impact this will have on the community could be devastating, economically culturally and spiritually. Save HaFo SaFo!!!

I just can’t explain how much this sign has impacted my life. If it weren’t for Hafo Safo, I wouldn’t have my job or my boyfriend, and who knows what kind of dangers I’d have fallen prey to. Thank you for raising awareness, because we must preserve this most vital monument.
