The proposal for the waste water treatment plant at Clonshaugh has been officially withdrawn. This outcome demonstrates the effectiveness of sustained public scrutiny regarding environmental protection. We shall remain observant to ensure that future infrastructure projects prioritize the health of our marine ecosystems.

Information about the Proposed Greater Dublin Drainage scheme to be built in Clonshaugh and to be routed through Portmarnock and discharged into the Irish Sea at Ireland's Eye. We need over 1,000,000 million signatures before we will be heard!

The signers of this petition are opposed to proposed waste water treatment plant at Clonshaugh, county Dublin.

This plant will affect the whole of the eastern coast, its midlands and beyond. All the seas and oceans of this planet connect. Which is why this is a cause for the world to stand for, to stop this treatment plant and not just the east coast of Ireland. If something is/was to go wrong with a plant of this size it will have astronomical affects on the environment. Even if nothing was to go wrong as such, the millions of litres of secondary level treated sewage that will be pumped into the sea per hour will in no doubt have a grave effect on our Irish waters, connecting waters, marine life and vital bacteria. We understand a plant will be and is needed, we are objecting to its placement, size and use of treatment. Since this plant is being built from scratch, we would be aiming to have any plant of this size and another other size built properly in the first place, using more environmentally sound and safe water treatments and layouts. We would be insisting to have any plant, let alone one of this huge proportion built to a standard that will safe guard the future of the local and the expanded environment. We can not be thinking in 50, 100 years any more, not where our planet is concerned. The earth, nature does not think in such small numbers. We need to be thinking in major long term planning safe mode and protecting the environment and solving our needs at the same time and with equal share.

We believe that this proposal is ill-thought out, uncosted and will negatively impact on all our communities, environment, coastlines, wild life preserves, fishing industry, tourism and much more. PLEASE HELP US STOP THIS DISASTER !

Remember this is an issue that will affect the whole east coast, its inlands and in turn all other waters that connect, so it doesn’t matter if the signer lives along the east coast or not.

ABSOLUTELY NOT. Who thought putting this near Ireland's Eye was a good idea?? The smell and the pollution will be ruinous.

We need to protect our coastline for the next generation. This is way to big and dangerous.

The scale of this is mental. once the damage is done you cant take it back. rethink this plan now.

Living in Portmarnock my whole life and this is just madness. Keep our waters clean and move this project elsewhere.
