This petition is created in support for the dispatch services of Millburn/Short Hills to remain in town.
Consolidation of services between Millburn/Short Hills and Livingston dispatch is scheduled to take place on January 1, 2013, as told to the Millburn Dispatchers by the township management. The services that Millburn dispatch provide to the residents will then be handled by Livingston dispatch. These services include but are not limited to; incoming calls: emergency, non -emergency and general inquiries (i.e. directions, events in town, road closures). The handling of dispatching medical emergency services (MSHFAS), DPW (when needed to clear trees down in the roadways, barricades to block off roads for safety reasons or garbage that may have been missed by daily pick up services) and Millburn's Animal Control officers.

The feedback from our neighbors confirms that local knowledge is essential for our safety. We are still waiting for a clear explanation from town management.

Keep our dispatch local. Outsourcing this is just going to cost us more in the long run when they dont know the streets.
Ridiculous idea. Emergencies need local knowledge. Livingston dispatchers wont know where these neighborhoods are.
Millburn dispatch is the best. They answer so fast and know exactly who to call in town. dont fix whats not broken!
Dumb move by the town. Why change what works perfectly fine? Leave it alone.
This is about safety. U cant replace local dispatchers who know this area like the back of their hand.
