Save Our Nursery Nurses in Special Needs Schools in West Lothian
Please help us.
Our children at Pinewood School currently have dedicated nursery nurses, who are qualified and experienced in supporting our children who have severe & complex needs.
- West Lothian council plan to remove and replace these trained, experienced staff with 'Advanced Support Workers". No specific qualification is currently required for this role, nor experience in working with children who have additional needs.
- The only reason for this change is cost cutting - at the expense of our community and its most vulnerable children's education and welfare.
- There is no doubt that our children will suffer. This wealth of hard earned experience and knowledge will be taken away. The Support Workers WLC plan to replace them with will mean a loss of approximately 7 hours a week of support for our children then they are current do from the Nursery Nurses. Thats less time spent planning with teachers, no attendance at Parents Nights. They leave when our children leave. No time for the planning/review our children currently benefit from and require.
Please help us by signing our petition to let West Lothian Council know that we and members of our community value our children, want them to continue to have the education they deserve.
We cannot stand by and let this decrease in the level of education & care for our local children happen. Our children deserve to retain their current standard of education.
Please help us be the voice for our children
