Purpose:

On July 18th, 2017, the Rt. Honorable William Morneau introduced significant tax reforms to the Canadian public and has only allowed 75 days for public consultation. The Kingston Advocacy for Small Business (KASB) has asked that the government slow down the process around the proposed reforms to provide time for the public to understand the comprehensive tax reforms being proposed and to provide appropriate and constructive feedback. The letter can be found at:

https://www.facebook.com/kingstonadvocacyforsmallb...

Please add your name to KASB's petition if you support the letter and its purpose. Including your business name is appropriate is also helpful. We will be submitting the petition to MP Mark Gerretsen. Please note the MP has requested postal codes be included so please include in the comments section. Your email will not be included in the submission, but is required to sign.

Please make this bill fairer to small business'. We're not all crooks and shouldn't be treated like employees as we don't benefit the same way, no paid sick days, no pension plans... Stop this nonsense and make it right.

As a single mother on welfare trying to start a small business to start supporting myself this move by the liberal gov is VERY discouraging. How am I supposed to get back on my feet when the very person kicking me while I'm down is the one I trusted to help me.

The proposed changes will hurt small business and change the rules drastically in the middle of the game with virtually no notice. Extremely unfair to those that have planned and funded their retirement using existing rules.

I have no pension or paternity leave plan, my wife works in the home/with our kids b/c my job does not allow me any flexibility to deal with those duties, & my overhead is large. These tax reforms will set back my retirement and my kids savings plans. Pls represent my concerns.

We need more time to understand the implications of this change. There is such a broad reach of impact with what seems like a very small return. The effort and fiscal responsibility should be focused somewhere that will not devastate mom and pop shops and small corporations.

There is a widespread belief because of this matter that small business owners are paying less tax. This, in reality, is untrue. After 37 yrs in business I know that salary, bonus or dividend makes little difference and the overall tax grab is the same for all.

I realize that I am a small business owner in Alberta where our opinions no longer matter to Ottawa. Nonetheless entrepreneurs in the West. like our counterparts in the rest of Canada, are uniformly against these punitive and confiscatory proposals. They should be withdrawn and a proper consultation process with Canadians undertaken.
