Westminster City Council are calling for the mural on the side of our building to be removed.

'Splash 2' by renowned urban artist FinDAC is a piece of art which was commissioned by the leaseholders of 128 Elgin Avenue in Maida Vale.

The Council are referring to this stunning artwork as 'advertising' and having a 'negative visual impact upon the building and the Maida Vale Conservation Area'.

In our experience, this is far from the case. Our intention was to enhance the local area we consider as 'Shirland Village', and to bring a smile to the faces of the local community.

We have had an incredible amount of positive feedback from people of all ages about our beautiful 'Maidens of Maida Vale', and how they feel the mural really enhances the area.

Please help us fight to keep the mural by signing this petition!!

It's an artistic not an architectural intervention. I'm all for protecting our conservation area but frankly it could do with a bit of a cultural edge. I think it should be allowed to stay.

Public art is part of a cultural legacy. It should be an honour to display the work of an internationally known contemporary artist. As an advertising manager and an owner of FinDAC work, this is not advertising and it is positively beautiful.

This is a wonderful addition to the area and deserves to be saved - In terms of negative visual impact the council should spend more time worrying about fly tippers and squatters than artists

THis mural is a daily inspiration on our school/work journey. It is a refresshing addition to an otherwise posh but scruffy neighbourhood. Please DO NOT remove it. Get on with more useful things. Please.

As someone who has lived in the area for close to 20 years, I can tell you that the corner where the Maiden's live has never been a nice one - until now! These Maidens lift the corner and the neighborhood. Well done to Day True for haivng the vision. Shame on anyone who wants to bring the corner back down....

This is ludicrous! All this mural has done is enhance the local area, and I only ever seen people stop and smile at it. These beautiful 'Maidens' receive so much praise for passers by, every single day. This is a piece of artwork and the Council should respect that.
