Help Prevent the Closing of the Math Library at USC
The math library at the University of South Carolina is scheduled to be closed this summer. This decision was made without the input or the knowledge of the graduate students. We believe that the math library is a valuable asset to all members of the department and that the decision of closing of the library was based on inaccurate information and statistics. The library is not just a resource of books, but an environment that encourages research, collaboration, and productivity. The closing of the library will inevitably hurt the department in recruitment, rankings, and research. We strongly urge the university to reconsider their decision on closing the math library, and ask them to look into alternative ways to fund running the library.
