This petition is to save the Red Deer Pub from being turned into a Morrisons convienience store. Within 500 metres theres the One Stop Shop which is part of the Tesco family do we really need another Supermarket? There has been a Public House on this site for hundreds of years & after the Swan & Sugarloaf was turned into a Tesco Express in 2012 it deserves to be preserved as a pub for the use of the local community & for future generations. The building is a fine example of Victorian Architecture & has always been the focal point for any celebrations in this part of South Croydon. With its loss all the Small Businesses, Purley Oaks School, Local residents & the area as a whole will be affected by increased traffic, lack of parking & the sale of alcohol from 7am in an area where the council have already stated their policy is to restrict sales due to anti-social behaviour. During the recent Croydon Riots this part of the town remained mostly unaffected as the community didn't want the destruction of the town taking place here & The Red Deer is a cornerstone of this community which will suffer greatly with its loss.

The momentum behind this effort to preserve the Red Deer Pub has reached a significant point. It is encouraging to see our community come together to protect such a vital piece of local history and architecture.

Ridiculous. Croydon doesnt need another supermarket. Stop destroying our history for more overpriced convenience stores!

We have enough shops already. Leave our local pub alone, it is the only decent place for a pint round here.

The traffic is bad enough as it is. Adding a delivery bay there is a nightmare waiting to happen.
