This is a petition focused on voicing the Penn State and State College community's displeasure with the announced closing and sale of the Rathskeller and Spats Cafe. I say both Penn State and State College community because this bar/restaurant duo is certainly important to the State College area and the 60+ employees who's livelihoods are tied to the business. However, it is also an important fixture in the lives and memories of hundreds of thousands of Penn State graduates. Not to mention the incredible history of the establishment (85 years and the oldest bar in the state of Pennsylvania). As a Penn State alumnus, I have many fond memories of the Skeller and continue to be a proud patron several times a year when visiting State College.
