We the undersigned residents of the Thornhill Revitalization study area understand that at the June 18th Planning Committee meeting a vote was taken to delay passing the By-law to give effect to the Resolutions passed by Council on March 19th regarding the Recommendations of the Thornhill Revitalization Working Group.

This delay is not supported by our community as it has the potential to jeopardize the non-concurrence letter Council issued regarding the cell tower application on Harlech Court; the redevelopment of the former Canac Kitchens site at 360 John Street and the very specific planning use changes Councillor Shore's Working Group spent almost two years considering.  Some businesses are now using scare-tactics and putting out misinformation.   Any business operating legally today will be allowed to continue operating in the future as they will be ‘grand-fathered’ and considered ‘legal non-conforming’.  For anyone to suggest otherwise is simply wrong.

To be clear, we also strongly oppose the Mercedes Benz application for the former Magna warehouse if it includes any aspect of 'maintenance and repair' which is fundamentally contrary to both the letter and spirit of the Recommendations the Working Group advanced and which Council adopted.

We ask you to respect the comprehensive and exhaustive consultative process the Thornhill Revitalization Working Group undertook and whose Recommendations you already unanimously endorsed in March, by doing the right thing and enacting the By-law giving effect to those Recommendations.
