During the final days of the Christie administration, the Benjamin Banneker Preparatory Charter School was granted approval to expand its program to include students from Kindergarten through fifth grade. Unless we make our voices heard, the Willingboro School District will be forced to transfer $5.7 million in irreplaceable district funds to the expanding charter school. The district has announced that such a dramatic loss of funding would necessitate cutting 42 classroom teachers from the traditional public schools in Willingboro.

We must act now. We must make our voices heard. We must stop the expansion.

Take Action:

Call your legislators and tell them:

*Our public schools are the fountain of our community. Our budgets reflect our priorities, and our priorities must represent the values we put on Willingboro Public Schools.

*When the Willingboro School District is forced to cut staff or resources to support the expansion of a charter school, ALL children lose. This is unacceptable.

*Charter Schools, like Benjamin Banneker, suck valuable resources from our public schools’ already-tight budgets. At a time when the value of all charter schools is being evaluated in New Jersey, we must oppose the rampant expansion here in Willingboro.

*We are urging you to support the Willingboro School District by opposing the expansion of the Benjamin Banneker Preparatory Charter Schools.
