We the undersigned residents of Helotes, Grey Forest, Pipe Creek, San Antonio, and Bexar County believe that building Wal-Mart or any other big box development on the corner of Scenic Loop and Bandera Road will be a detriment to the character of our community. Scenic Loop is just that and should be preserved as a green space to protect the environment, endangered species, and the runoff into the creeks and aquifer recharge. Scenic Loop Road was recognized as a County Scenic and Historic Roadway in 1985, when the proposed widening of Scenic Loop Road was denied, and it was taken off of the Major Thoroughfare Plan. We are the entrance to the Hill Country and should honor that position with great care for future generations to come. We therefore urge the City Councils of Helotes and Grey Forest and the Bexar County Commissioners to oppose by all available means the construction of a Wal-Mart at this location. Petitions will be sent to each of these entities to demonstrate the community\'s will in opposing this development.
