Save Hagerstown Water
The City of Hagerstown has began a construction project that will cause about 80% of their customers to use more water, and consequently, more sewer, and therefore, your water bill and sewer bill will be increasing without an approved rate increase. This same pressure increase will also cause the water system to leak more water. They are doing this by increasing the pressure on the water system. Once the new water tank is constructed in the West End, the water pressure will increase and this in turn, will cause the customers to use more water and more sewer. Raising the system pressure will do more harm than good and having higher pressure comes with a price. Besides increasing customer usage and more water system leakage, it will have the adverse effects of increased pumping cost and subsequent rate increases, increased risk of damaging your plumbing system, and increases the risk of inadequate water for fighting a fire. Because customers on the Funkstown water system are directly fed by the City\'s water, a customer on Funkstown\'s water system will be impacted in same manor as a Hagerstown customer. The towns of Smithsburg and Williamsport will experience the remainder of the negative effects. PROVIDING YOUR NAME BELOW INDICATES THAT YOU SUPPORT KEEPING THE PRESSURE THE SAME AS IT IS NOW.
