We implore the Superintendent and School Board of South Orange/Maplewood to keep Home Economics in the MMS curriculum. We feel strongly that our children benefit greatly from Ms. Deeds' cooking and nutrition classes. By signing this petition, I am asking you to listen to my voice and keep this important class alive at MMS.

Updates

March 16, 2009

The administration has acknowledged the volume of signatures and agreed to a formal meeting to discuss the Home Economics curriculum. I am currently drafting a letter outlining the pedagogical benefits of the program to present during this session.

My son loves that class. Hands on learning is the only way some kids get through the day. Please dont cut it.

Are you kidding me? Basic life skills are more useful than some of the stuff they have to learn. Leave the program alone.

Kids barely know how to boil an egg these days. Ms. Deeds is the best teacher at that school and this would be a huge mistake.
