We, the residents of the Durham Region, were appalled and dismayed to find out that the Administration of Lakeridge Health Oshawa did not choose to replace the surgical retinal laser. There is no cost savings as it pertains to blindness. We, as taxpayers, expect and demand that the Administration of Lakeridge Health Oshawa, recognize the importance of the treatment of retinal diseases and continue to support and maintain the Retinal Program as part of the Ophthalmology Service. This includes the necessary surgical procedures, as well as, the Retina and Fluorescein Clinic. Forcing patients to travel further will create hardship and difficulty of access. Your prompt consideration to this important matter would be much appreciated. Thanking you in advance.
