We, the undersigned individual members of the Congregation Shaarey Zedek (the "Congregation"), oppose the decision not to continue Rabbi Joseph Krakoff ("Rabbi Krakoff") as Senior Rabbi and demand that the below listed Executive Board members be removed from their respective offices for this action and the following reasons:

*Failing to abide by the terms of the Congregation's By-Laws with respect to honoring the terms of Rabbi Krakoff's contract;

*Conducting the Congregation's business in a secret manner and in contravention of the Congregation's By-Laws;

*Jeopardizing the future of the Congregation through the loss of members as a result of the improper decision to not honor Rabbi Krakoff's contract;

*Bringing disrespect to the Congregation among members of the Jewish community of metropolitan Detroit;

*Creating a hostile workplace for employees of our Congregation;

*Failing to act in the best interest of and consult with the members of the Congregation in carrying out their duties.

In support of the above, we hereby petition for a special meeting of the Congregation to be held at the synagogue, 27375 Bell Rd., Southfield Michigan on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at 3:00 p.m., for the purpose of considering the following resolutions:

WHEREAS, our Senior Rabbi Joseph Krakoff ("Rabbi Krakoff") has been a rabbi of the Congregation for sixteen years pursuant to a written contract which has not expired;

AND WHEREAS, the executive Board of the Congregation failed to comply with the By-laws of the Congregation in connection with the honoring of Rabbi Krakoff's contract as our Senior Rabbi;

AND WHEREAS, pursuant to Article VII, Section 1 of the By-laws of the Congregation, the President, the two Vice-Presidents, and the three at-large members of the Executive Board were elected by the members of the Congregation at the annual meeting of the Congregation held on April 29, 2014;

AND WHEREAS, the statutes of the State of Michigan provide, among other things, that "An officer elected by the shareholders or members may be removed, with or without cause, only by vote of the shareholders or members;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the following members of the Executive Board be removed from office effective immediately: President, Mary Knoll; Vice-President-Treasurer, Larry Nemer; Vice-President-Secretary Robert Goodman; At-Large Member, Jeri Fishman; At-Large Member, Janice Stoneman; and At-Large Member Ronald ("Rick") Cohen.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the following members of the Congregation shall serve as interim officers of the Executive Board until the next annual meeting of the Congregation to be held in April or May, 2015: President: Lawrence A. Berry; Vice-President, Jacqueline Zeff; Vice-President, Dr. Gary Edelson.

We believe that the above actions will save our synagogue.
