Save Jeff Johnson
Preamble: Whereas Jeff Johnson has served Saint John's Preparatory School (SJP) remarkably well and with dedication, and distinction, throughout his 19 years of service to SJP students, alumni, faculty, and administration. Whereas Jeff Johnson's remarkable pedagogic talents; his love of words, sayings, stories, and literature; his thoughtful written critiques and compellingly verbose phrases; his artful praise, his self-deprecating sense of humor, his symbolic interpretation; his love legends, epics, songs, and essays; his wit, his philosophy, and his goodness – all of these qualities, we say, are indispensable to Saint John's Preparatory School and its educational mission. And whereas the Saint John's Preparatory School Administration, in December of 2008, offered Jeff Johnson, a teacher at SJP for 19 years, a curtailed contract cutting his pay and restricting his actions as a teacher, and as a person, in a bizarre and an obtuse fashion, going much beyond the pale of any reasonable contractual limitations. And whereas, the aforementioned sham contract was rescinded, for mysterious reasons as of early March 2009, and subsequently Jeff Johnson was notified, via mail, that he would not be offered a teaching position at SJP for the 2009 – 2010 school year. Whereas, we feel, that any actions by the administration to fire, let go, force out, or dismiss Jeff Johnson for the 2009 – 2010 school year would be detrimental to, and unsupportive of, the Saint John's Preparatory School, we, the undersigned, do protest the elimination of Jeff Johnson's faculty teaching position for the 2009 – 2010 school year.
