Game Rooms Should Be Held To Same Standards We understand game room establishments may not be everyone’s choice of entertainment. But everyone should at least agree on one thing — that they’re entitled to their constitutional rights. Like other businesses, they should be allowed to coexist in society without having to endure the constant harassment, slander and interrogation. Investigation by law enforcement should pursue only in cases where that particular business site has had a complaint filed. Otherwise, with no probable cause, the civil liberties of people are not only being violated, they’re being ignored completely. In this case, those that are innocent are considered guilty based on stereotype and speculation. It’s a sign of the times when officials who are supposed to be overseeing the protection of these very rights are slowly claiming them without justification. With that said, it leaves many of us to wonder — who’s really the guilty ones here? Those of us who sign this petiton, are dedicated in the survival of Galveston county game rooms. As individual cities, and a small percentge of nay-sayers combine in forces - the population of a once beloved hobby is slowly dwendling, ridiculus privacy violating rules and regulations, harrassment from local law enforcment, banning, sterotyping & slander, are just a few terrible things these small business\\\' are forced to endure ! Galveston County Game Rooms pay taxes to the city, state and county, They are made to operate with a DBA license, along with numerous other fees they are subjected to. They are scrutinized, made out to be a dirty secret, and shunned at times. 80 percent of Game rooms provide entertainment for our senior freinds, they able to get out of their homes, mingle with freinds, and have coffee. It\\\'s more of a social gathering place, than anything else. Game Rooms are harmless as bingo or card games- It\\\'s all just fun & games! So why are they being harrassed? Money or Politics? Hitchcock, Tx Is next in Line to force game rooms to close - by a bored of a few men that are supposed be the voice of the community - but if 65% of the poplulation in Hitchcock want them, what happend? We strongly urge everyone who is oppossed to the permanent closure of these establishments - to voice their opionion before it\\\'s too late - July 31st is the deadline. Please contact Hitchcock City Hall: (409) 986-5591 7423 Hwy 6 Hitchcock, TX 77563
