The Newcastle City Council wants to close down The Loft Youth Venue and sell the building. The Loft is an extremely valuable resource to the youth of Newcastle, holding many different workshops to inspire interest and talent in all kinds of cultural and expressive avenues, including music, art, dance, drama and writing. As a drug and alcohol free venue, it is a safe space for teenagers to take part in productive activites and benefit the community (e.g. last year the loft was involved in Take Back The Night). The Loft is also vital to Newcastle's music scene, showcasing local talent, providing a space for gigs, and teaching young people the skills to organise them. The Loft also gives the youth of Newcastle a voice. Please use yours to protect our beloved Youth Venue and the jobs of our mentors.
