There are plans to push through planning permission to build around 400 new houses in greenbelt land running from behind the Plough pub and Blounts Drive/Stanway Close, over to Westlands Road, affecting many areas of the Birds estate. Whilst everyone accepts the need for more housing in Uttoxeter, building in this area, will not only be a disaster for the rural areas affected, but will also put huge pressure on transport, on schools and other parts of the local infrastructure. Putting it simply, there are better places in the Town to build, that will meet the need for housing, without destroying rural habitats and turning what is currently already a busy area of Town into a transport nightmare. For this reason, we would like you to object to these proposals. The 27.5 hectare site in the proposals is two parcels of land which has a private property on the south western boundary of Uttoxeter. The western parcel, which is the larger one, includes several buildings associated with Hazelwalls Farm allowing potential to the site from the B5013 lying to the east, from Westlands Road to the north and from Fennel Close to the north east. Access to the eastern parcel would be from Sorrel Close to the north.
