Say NO to Z-17-05 Provision Zoning Change in Hurst, Texas
The Hurst City Council votes Tuesday, December 12th to change the zoning of the plot of land between Valentine St and Miguelito's Restaurant from BUS (Business) to MU-PD. MU-PD is mixed use development and paves the way for the income-based apartment development currently in the city of Hurst Transformation plan to move forward. How does this effect you? This proposed apartment complex would line Bedford-Euless Rd from Miguelitos to Valentine, and backs directly to resident's property lines. Some structures are slated to be 3 stories tall, with line of sight directly into backyards. Also, this 120-unit complex would feed directly into Harrison Lane Elementary, which would cause more overcrowding.
THE CITY did not make HEB ISD aware of this development and should have done their due diligence to notify them.
THE CITY COUNCIL has not even had the opportunity to fully vet a new apartment complex in Hurst, let alone any alternatives provided by the developer for that area.
THE RESIDENTS within 200ft were the only ones notified, per state law. The entire neighborhood and families of students who feed into our school should have been notified.
DO NOT let the City Council push through this zoning change UNCHALLENGED.
We need more TIME. Time to do the right thing for Southeast Hurst. Time to fully vet any project that directly impacts residents and schools and city resources. Let's not be hasty in our efforts. What we do now can effect the future so let us in good conscience do what is best for the heart and soul of this city. Help us provide that kind of stability to families who want to make Hurst, Texas their home.
Please sign our petition to encourage the City Council to vote AGAINST the Z-17-05 Provision.
Thank you!
