Say YES to Higher Special Education Resources!
Educators are such an important and vital part of our school systems, they are the ones who keep our students in class and motivate them to learn more. All educators play some sort of role in students lives, especially those working in special education. Special education teachers work alongside students with disabilities to help better their education experience and social experience as well.
Special education needs are at an all time low, with low fundings and limited resources to help students. Each student is presented with a special and unique set of learning habits, that must be addressed. Educators must be trained to help assess these difficulties and help students. Schools are already limited by educators that two in three teachers who work in special education have yet to complete the proper training to help students.
To become a full time special education teacher all one must do is have a bachelor's degree. Most who apply to the field already have completed this requirement, but fundings in schools is what diminishes the ability to hire more qualified educators.
Thus, this petition is asking the school systems, specifically LAUSD, as it is one of the largest school districts in California, to help add more funding to our educators who can make a difference in a student's lives. In addition, funding will help educators buy more materials, specific to each students needs when necessary.
Students are our future, and we must show we care for each one of them giving them the best resources we can.
