ST. CATHARINES, ON – Professor David Schimmelpenninck’s return to teaching at Brock University has prompted a clear response by student activists.

Schimmelpenninck was found, through an internal investigation by Brock University, to have sexually assaulted a student in 2014. Previously, another student had complained to Brock University about sexual violence by Schimmelpenninck, but Brock University did not pursue a formal investigation process. These incidents became public in 2016.

For the safety of all students, faculty and staff, it is crucial that Schimmelpenninck immediately resign from Brock University. We will not let individuals who have a history of committing sexual violence get away with their actions.
